Entity and activity description
Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

Job Responsibilities
Lead technical investigations for operating facilities to resolve control system operational or performance issues
Provide technical support to operating facilities to resolve control system operational or performance issues; including but not limited to advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and loop tuning (as it relates to critical loops) while adhering to the corporate Management of Change (MOC) policy.
Provide support to Large Industries Regional reliability and maintenance groups to develop changes associated with process control systems and also provide consultation, review, and approval of changes as required. Execute those changes and document.
Maintain and provide input to improving the preventive maintenance program for control systems hardware and software.
Develop preventative preventive maintenance program for control systems hardware and software.
For existing systems, Provide leadership and support for upgrading and maintaining control systems at the latest approved revision levels.
Support Process Engineering within operations to establish/modify plant standards of control.
Configure, Support and Test control system applications in order to support advanced process control, process improvement and efficiency projects.
Provide control systems engineering support for selected capital projects which includes; scope development, engineering labor and equipment estimate, control system architecture, control system design objective, system configuration and networking, Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, and startup management. Provide oversight for field installation activities as required.
Represent operations on capital projects as requested to provide input to control system changes related to existing or new installations
Support the Technical Lead for selected process control system projects that are outsourced where requested.
Act as a Technical Lead for selected process control system projects that are outsourced where requested.
Coordinate with field instrumentation specialists to ensure proper/correct instrumentation specification and procurement.
Follow control system engineering practices which establish standard hardware, software, system development and applications.
Assist in control system validation to meet FDA requirements.

Identify opportunities to upgrade control systems to reduce costs through improved reliability, operability, and obsolescence avoidance. Develop cost justified opportunities into projects.
Comply with all corporate policies, practices, standards and procedures.
Develop/assist a sustainable framework for program level projects that include a worldwide view of the Air Liquide Ecosystem.
Required Qualifications
8+ years process industry experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred (Professional Engineer registration preferred).
Field experience in control system troubleshooting and support preferred.
Comply with all corporate policies and practices.
Knowledgeable in cryogenic air separation process technology, distillation process technology or Steam Methane Reformers.
Requires approximately 25% travel.
Able to effectively work within a diverse, international organization.
Willing to carry a cellular phone and have access to company computer to respond to requests for technical assistance during off-duty hours.
Willing to maintain/or obtain Professional Engineering Licensure.

Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise:
8+ years’ experience in programmable control system specification, configuration, networking, commissioning and technical support; preferably with a mix of plant and corporate engineering environments.
Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows XP minimum).
Have a practical understanding of computer networking.
Possess a working knowledge of control system networking and standard communication protocols such as OPC (DA/UA), DDE, ODBC
Experience in documentation including write-up of project proposals, estimates and application scope description.
Knowledge of Google Office Productivity Suite (Drive, Doc, Sheets, etc...).
Practical working knowledge of process control theory.
Strong communication skills, written and oral. Able to effectively interface with other engineering disciplines/organizations, plant operations and senior management.
Strong analytical and organizational skills, able to multi-task with changing priorities.
Must be able to wear personal safety equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing.
