The National Sales Leader will be the first to bring the entire composite lumber sales team together, focusing on two key product lines to deliver a unified business strategy. The role is pivotal in driving distribution, retail, and contractor engagement within the regional territories to achieve significant business growth.
The National Sales Leader will work closely with the leadership team to develop and implement the right metrics, scorecards, and customer programs to ensure the team and our customers exceed expectations. It will require creating a growth-minded culture and environment that actively seeks new leads and contractors to grow the business. This role will also focus on leading two key market strategies: converting from pressure-treated lumber to our Structural Framing and Posts products and establishing our Marine-Grade Decking products as best in class.

Span of Control: 4 (Growing Team to 7 by end of year)
Travel: 50 – 60%
Location: Located within 1-hour of a major airport in the Eastern Standard Time zone
Market Conversion and Growth

Focus on converting the market from pressure-treated lumber to our Structural Framing and Posts products and establishing our Marine-Grade Decking products as best in class

Create and lead a proactive sales team that goes out to the market to generate new leads and actively engage contractors
- Leverage a growth mindset to develop and execute a strategic approach to market conversion, identifying key opportunities and challenges

Build strong relationships with contractors, distributors, and other key stakeholders to facilitate market penetration and pull through
- Utilize data-driven insights to refine strategies and maximize growth potential
- Monitor and analyze market trends, customer feedback, and competitive landscape to continuously adapt and improve the sales approach
Strategic Collaboration

Unite the sales team under a cohesive strategy focused on two primary product lines
- Partner with leadership to create and implement effective sales metrics, scorecards, and incentive plans

Collaborate closely with leadership, including Strategic Marketing and Key Account Managers, delivering in-market education and promotional activities that will drive the business growth agenda

Consistently utilize CRM to capture customer and market data that is easily shared with the sales team and business unit
National Business Strategy

Drive contractor engagement and build strong relationships with distribution and retail while managing channel conflict
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform sales strategies

Communicates with all major customers and models behavior for the sales team so that our customers know our strategic plans, how to position for market conditions, and build trust and operating integrity in our business relationships.

Demonstrates ability to design selling programs, with an outside-in perspective, to drive Owens Corning and customer profitability.

Ensures all initiatives and strategy are cost effective and lead the sales organization around managing costs to plan.
Team Leadership and Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Area Sales Managers to achieve sales targets and business growth

Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement within the sales team

Develops talent through effective coaching, performance management, talent evaluation and utilization of people, building talent bench strength at all levels

Attracts, develops and retains the best sales talent

Effectively creates and fills open positions with the appropriate mix of internal promotions and external recruitment, in order to create a diverse workforce focused on near-term performance and longer-term succession needs

Creates teamwork across the sales function and the business segment(s) to maximize the performance of Owens Corning and the development of people
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or related field. MBA is a plus

5 years of customer-facing experience in the building materials industry
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Proven experience in sales leadership, preferably within the composite lumber or building materials industry

Experience in bringing a new product to market

Strong track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
