We are currently seeking a new Director of Business Development to join our team. You’ll be empowered to drive the business development process through thoughtful prospecting and a consultative selling approach to secure new business. The ideal candidate will be capable of working collaboratively in a visionary, mission-driven environment handling a variety of different tasks while also working on essential project goals to provide clean energy innovation and improve community resilience.
Core Responsibilities
As a sales hunter, you will communicate Verdant Power’s value through outreach, proposals and presentations, and managing activities throughout the sales cycle. This includes generating and prospecting leads via research and creative tactics, tracking and maintaining the sales pipeline, leading prospect calls, and managing the Request for Proposal (RFP), proposal and closing process.
You will be looked upon to provide feedback and suggestions and to ultimately enhance the business development processes and strategy, contributing to Verdant Power’s growth and long-term stability. You will be a thought leader collaborating with colleagues to help establish and deliver on sales and company goals.
The day-to-day job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Understand prospective business needs and objections and effectively communicate solutions and the value proposition of Verdant Power’s technology and expertise in proposals and presentations
· Develop and maintain positive relationships with key prospects throughout, including negotiating and closing on contracts to achieve sales targets
· Manage activities throughout the sales cycle: prospect leads, maintain sales pipeline, lead client calls, manage RFP and proposal process
· Provide input to the Board of Directors (BOD) regarding the strategic direction and operational impact of emerging business development strategies
· Collaborate with department heads to develop and provide input on financial plans and proposals
· Attend sales meetings, project meetings, committee meetings, conferences and training sessions as needed and as they pertain to business development imperatives
· Partner and liaise with the Verdant Power Board of Directors and team to develop and maintain positive relationships with key external partners
· Supervise and guide Verdant Power’s Marine Project Analyst in his/her day-to-day responsibilities in support of the company’s business development activities
· Keep accurate records and documentation for reporting and feedback
· Provide valuable feedback and bring passion to the role to drive company growth and a positive reputation in the renewable energy market
Skills & Experience Required
· Driven self-starter, highly motivated, and target driven
· Proven ability to drive the entire sales process from plan to close
· Ability to communicate with, present to and influence all levels of an organization
· Demonstrate experience as a consultative seller, developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions
· Experience researching, networking and prospecting to uncover new prospects
· 5 + years’ experience in new business sales, preferably in marine energy management and renewable energy systems operations
· Ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving business environment
· BA/BS degree or equivalent

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 per year
