Behavior Intervention Specialist, Turlock, CA
Full Time - Some weekends
This position will have responsibility for frequent on-call support to all YCP staff in managing youth or young adults demonstrating acting out behavior in the cottages. The Behavior Intervention Specialist will help provide services to youth, young adults and YCP staff that maintain the daily milieu and services to the youth in collaboration with the day to day running of assigned cottages in the Aspiranet Residental program.
Your Capabilities and Duties
The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible to provide frequent on-call behavior intervention and support to the cottages, youth and young adults as assigned.
The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for ensuring safety of residents and staff in the cottages assigned by offering support in managing youth or young adults demonstrating acting out behavior that could potentially place others at risk.
The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for incident report documentation, problem solving, safety monitoring, child abuse reporting and training, as well as upholding and supervising to the Agency’s quality standards, personnel and practice rules, policies and procedures.
Must be able to implement self-defense maneuvers according to non-restraint principles in accordance with CPI methodology.
The Behavior Intervention Specialist will demonstrate responsibility sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences and will perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager II.
Education & Work Experience
Have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree; or
Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit; or
Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; or
Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; or
Have a valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; or
Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center for at least one year; or
Have relevant experience as determined by the department to meet any of the above requirements.
Meets all state required conditions of employment as set forth by funder and Community Care Licensing for a Licensed Community Care facility; i.e. Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance, TB/Health Physical. Valid CDL and clean driving record.

The STRTP team is comprised of Mental Health, Social Work, Cottage Managers and Youth Care Professional staff committed to supporting youth in successfully transitioning back to their families. The Behavior Intervention Specialist will assist YCP staff by providing frequent on-call support to assigned Cottages in the provision of the daily milieu and support services as well as partner with the remainder of the STRTP multi-disciplinary team in the provision of quality services.

Compensation: $15.00 - $16.00 DOE
