The Knowledge Management and Innovation (KMI) team’s mission is to support leaderships, cancer care teams, and researches by providing them with the data and insight they need for operations, measuring clinical performance, facilitating improvement of quality of care, analytics, and research. We provide innovative solutions to standardize, quality control, govern, translate, and make information available and accessible in large scale.
As a summer intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in one of the following projects:
Metric Development and Governance Program
This program entails defining, deriving, visualizing, and governing operational and other metrics to provide stakeholders with the business insight they need.
MSK Extract develops standardized tools for research data collection to integrate and uniformly harmonize these data for analysis.
MSK Engage is a patient generated data (PGD) platform. Our team standardizes terminology used in PGD data collection to harmonize these data for analysis, exchange with other systems, and patient alerts.
Enterprise Ontology/Terminology Development
Our team is leading institutional efforts in creating and adopting enterprise metadata (ontology) and terminology.
Depending on your skill set and interests, you will have the opportunity to expand your skills and contribute to the team effort in:
Database design, SQL, advanced MS Excel, reporting and data analysis, standard medical terminologies, Semantic Web technologies, data visualization, Tableau, technical documentation writing, presentation.
Undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related areas
