The Director of Architecture ensures the application architecture is internally aligned with corporate strategy, innovation programs, product development, customer initiatives, regulatory matters and other strategic priorities. Acts as a ‘bridge’ between existing and new technologies relating to Vertex product development to drive business solutions, ensure continuity and smooth transition from one technology to the next.

Define and share responsibilities with the CTO to provide mentoring and development for the ATA staff.
Conduct performance and developmental planning and reviews with ATA staff. (This will initially be shared with the CTO with intentions to phase to the Director following a jointly agreed schedule.)
Assist in the planned introduction of, transition to, and management of key technologies, methods and architectures for the Vertex development organizations.
Collaborate with leadership of product development organizations to plan for project, resource and technology transition strategies.
Provide strong leadership for developing core competencies, leveraging the technology strategy across Vertex departments.
Collaborate with Vertex entities on topics related to culture, organizational dynamics, and Technology Guild formation.
Influence tactical efforts to improve the technology, process, and quality of existing products.
Provide consulting resources to project teams focused on developing Vertex’s next generation products.
Foster an atmosphere of learning and skill development.
Provide technological direction, leadership, and influence to partners, alliances, and other stakeholders in the technology industry.
Use shared expertise of others in the organization.
Work with key stakeholders in developing technology strategy and direction and the enterprise architectural blueprint.
Participate as an integral member of the IT management team responsible for defining and implementing software technology strategy, capital plans and continuous improvement objectives.Provide technical subject matter expertise to business, market, and product planning teams.
Participate in roadmap and budget planning across services and value streams.
Drive innovation and technology to meet business needs and provide strategic advantage.
Lead and/or or support investigations of potentially relevant new technology.
Review architectures and designs for compliance with technical vision, strategy, roadmap and security standards.
Act as subject matter expert as needed in areas of specialization or expertise.
Support sales and marketing teams with customer inquiries on our practices and strategy.
Research solutions and emerging technologies on the market for particular technical requirements and business needs.
Ensure that solutions are well engineered, operable, maintainable and aligned with the vision.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer
Science, or related field is required (Master’s degree preferred)
5-10 years of relevant work experience.
Proven experience providing oversight for multiple, concurrent IT software development deliverables.

Strong knowledge of application development processes, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
Strong organizational awareness.
Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and patterns.Strong foundational background in Application Development/Solution Architecture on large or complex systems.
Strong ability to establish standards and provide Enterprise Architecture Governance across a large complex organization.
Advanced knowledge of Cloud Architecture patterns and strategies (including IAAS, PAAS, Security, Compute, Storage and Messaging).
Experience defining and implementing Cloud Adoption and Migration for existing on-premise solutions.
Strong knowledge of data management and database development technologies and processes including logical data modeling techniques.
Ability to tailor content and delivery to different audiences - Business or Technology, Executive or Individual Contributor.Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and staff.
Knowledge of sound business practices and a proven track record of exceeding customer expectations and anticipating their needs are also required.
Ability to apply broad expertise or unique knowledge and professional concepts to develop resolutions to critical issues.
Ability to manage multiple complex, high visibility or high impact projects simultaneously.
Ability to work without supervision. Complete latitude for decision making.
Ability to create formal networks with key decision makers.
Ability to listen and understand information and communicate the same.
Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation and facilitation skills.
Must be results oriented and customer focused.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
Sufficient knowledge of business communication, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.
