The Communications and Education Manager is responsible for developing and executing external communications strategies and interfacing with member, provider, and other community stakeholder representatives, as well as State Customer representatives. The individual in this position also oversees education initiatives for targeted audiences.
If you are located in the East Coast,, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.
Develop, implement, and evaluate annual communications plans that support business objectives and engage and inform external member audiences
Lead population analysis to evaluate targeted community communications needs and opportunities
Lead member outreach efforts and member contract requirements
Understand complex subject matter and translate it into compelling messages for targeted population; Messaging and presentation development and execution
Oversee strategy of external member and provider communications, including member and provider newsletters, member handbook, provider notifications, and provider and member letters
Provide management oversight to internal business leads and consultation to business partners to ensure accurate, effective, and consistent message delivery and implementation of communications initiatives
Draft and edit various communications materials, including key messages, Q&As, talking points, speeches, and presentations
Develops education and training strategies to support the business operations
Leverages creativity and utilizes a wide variety of methods to present education and training programs. Responsibilities could include overseeing consultants / contractors to assist in execution of various deliverables
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, health care services or related field
5+ years of communications experience in related health field
Proficiency in MS Office suite and Adobe Creative suite
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience creating and executing annual marketing communications plans to support business goals and drive brand engagement, including key ideas, messages, talking points, FAQs, and media statements
Experience in crisis communications and issues
Knowledge of AP Style
Skilled in leading multiple projects of varying scale and scope simultaneously in a fast-paced and highly matrixed environment
Experience managing vendor relationships
Skilled at working with and leading multiple stakeholders, executives, and business teams – both internal and external – and driving toward consensus; Includes interacting with, and providing counsel to, senior leaders
Ability to work as a subject matter expert and leader on a cross-functional team
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to present information in an engaging and concise manner
Understanding of managed-care entities (e.g., ACO, CCO, HMO)
Understanding of state, federal, and private healthcare guidelines, regulations, procedures, and products (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, HIPPA, MIPPA)
Strong work ethic, independence, and dependability
