The Controller at Fundation Group LLC will be responsible for managing the Company’s finance and accounting functions, including external reporting. The ideal candidate will be interested in working for a private equity backed FinTech company and be a self-driven, high performer in a fast-paced startup environment, who interacts with department heads throughout the Company. The role is based in our Reston, VA office.
Report directly both to the COO and CEO. Eventually to a CFO
Ownership of the monthly financial close process including journal entries and reconciliations
Responsible for all financial reporting – including annual audited financial statements, monthly debt and investor reporting and internal management reporting
Coordinating with third party loan servicing vendor and be responsible for reconciling and recording monthly loan sub ledger transactions into the company’s general ledger
Oversee accounts payable, payroll and employee expense reimbursement processes in addition to all other day-to-day accounting functions
Coordinating with the business development team for recording and maintaining partnership transactions and reporting
Work directly with the senior leadership team to drive periodic updates to the budgeting and forecasting models
Own coordination and execution of all financial external audits
BA/BS degree or equivalent in Accounting
CPA certification (or equivalent) required
Supervisory experience necessary – small team including AP, liquidity management and a staff accountant
6+ years of directly related experiences. Big 4 or Large Regional firm plus corporate experience a plus
Prior experience working with financial services companies, including banks, finance companies and lending institutions. Familiarity with loan accounting important.
Broad knowledge of US GAAP, accounting principles and practices, financial reporting, and budgeting / forecasting
Technical accounting knowledge in loan accounting including allowance for loan losses and trouble debt restructurings
Prior experience working with loan accounting systems
Strong verbal, teamwork and written communication skills
Robust operational knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft suit of products
Preferred (but not required) skills include prior public accounting experience, prior use of Intuit Quickbooks and knowledge of SQL reporting tools
