Graphic Designer/Data Storyteller

We are currently seeking a graphic designer with data visualization and visual story-telling expertise to join our Marketing and Messaging team and help promote our digital content and publishing platform as a leading carrier of the firm’s investment thinking. The graphic designer will work closely with the firm’s senior digital strategist, writers and three other members of the creative and digital strategy team.

This is a full-time position that can be located in our Baltimore, MD office.

We expect this individual to:
Contribute to the firm’s digital strategy through developing compelling layouts, dynamic data visualization content for print, web, email, social media, and other channels
Under the direction of the senior digital strategist, work with the firm’s various investment practitioners to source and communicate the firm’s ideas through visual storytelling
Bring creativity and curiosity about the investment management industry and finds new ways to apply design-oriented thinking to marketing and messaging deliverables
Need to understand project management principles and work autonomously to solve problems and bring complex projects to completion
Need to be organized and able to define and communicate the steps of the creative production process
The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Creating deliverables using the Adobe Suite
Meeting and liaising with colleagues to discuss requirements or project progress
Have an understanding of user-experience design best practices
Working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to work within a deadline driven environment
Manage and execute a multichannel publication calendar throughout the year
Manage full life-cycle of publishing tasks, including limited writing and editing, stakeholder approval, design, data visualization, publication and distribution
Collaboration and teamwork is a MUST.
Ability to work with writers and other colleagues on major publications about advanced investment topics
Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Investment-related data analysis is desired, but not required (investment expertise can come from experience as well as formal education)
At least three (2) to five (5) years of experience working within a design capacity in a professional office setting
Preference for candidates that can provide a portfolio of prior work.
Proficiency working with excel, disparate datasets and data visualization to chart, graph, and visualize complex concepts
Mastery of MS Office Suite

Proficiency in:
Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

Experience with:
After Effects, Premiere, Audition
Drupal, Git, and the LAMP stack
