We are looking for a motivated Medical/Molecular Technologist to perform a variety of laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples to provide accurate and optimal diagnostic information to healthcare providers. Working in a clinical laboratory setting, you will use a combination of manual techniques and automated instruments to perform tests in areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics.
Responsibilities:
- Verifies specimens are correctly and completely labeled upon receipt.
- Receive and prepare patient samples (e.g., blood, urine) for analysis according to established protocols.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and processing of specimens to maintain sample integrity.
- Prioritizes specimens processing based on established priorities.
- Aliquots specimens according to established protocols.
- Performs all aspects of analytical testing appropriate to specific test.
- Perform molecular biology assays, including nucleic acid extraction, amplification (PCR), following established laboratory protocols.
- Conduct quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results.
- Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain documentation of quality control data.
- Analyze test results using manual methods, automated analyzers, and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Interpret findings accurately and report results to healthcare providers in a timely manner, adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines, accreditation standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP), and laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe work environment and comply with biohazardous waste disposal protocols.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Coordinate repairs and ensure proper functioning of equipment to minimize downtime.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Chemistry & Toxicology, Hematology, Urinalysis, laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and quality control principles. Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Experience and/or knowledge working in a molecular biology laboratory. Experience and/or knowledge of techniques such as PCR and nucleic acid extraction.
- Attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
