Job summary
The Red Hat Payroll team in North America (NA) is looking for an Associate Payroll Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be a member of the Red Hat Finance team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the operational side of payroll for the U.S. and Canada regions. Your work on payrolls will include employee stock purchase plans (ESPPs), stock options, restricted stock unit (RSU) vestings, and assisting with international payroll requests to ensure accurate and timely pay for all associates.

Primary job responsibilities
Manage and guarantee disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes to 4500+ associates, consistent with federal and state wages and hour laws
Ensure that the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions, and terminations is accurate and timely
Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits, and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best practice operations
Communicate continuously with the Director of Global Payroll on the payroll status and issues
Partner with People (HR), Benefits, Tax, and Equity teams and other cross-functional areas
Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports regarding gross payroll, hours worked, paid time off (PTO) accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.
Assist with audits of internal records, workers’ compensation, tax filings, 401k, and related documentation
Supervise three payroll analysts in carrying out the responsibility for payroll preparation
Oversee Sarbanes-Oxley testing and process
Required skills
5+ years of people management experience with 10+ years of experience in payroll processing; some knowledge of international payroll is a plus
Good knowledge of equity compensation reference stock exercised transactions
Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to payroll and benefits including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and ERISA and workers’ compensation
Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines
Solid interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of the organization with diplomacy and tact
Demonstrated ability to work as a team with a high level of initiative and confidentiality
Ability to work under a flexible schedule at critical reporting deadlines
Organized, detailed, meticulous, and with good math skills

The following are considered a plus:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field or equivalent work experience
Advanced knowledge of ADP PayForce payroll processing system
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
