New York Tech Athletics seeks a Head Cheer Coach for its competitive cheerleading team in accordance with NCAA, East Coast Conference and University Rules, Regulations and Policies. This position will perform or assist with a wide variety of coaching and administrative duties in order to accomplish the goals and objectives of the team, Intercollegiate Athletics and the University.
Plan and execute all practice sessions for varsity and competitive cheerleading teams, includes conditioning drills, teaching choreography, spotting of stunts, routines and other cheerleading /spirit maneuvers.
Ensure proper care and setup of practice and safety equipment.
Recruit responsible and talented student athletes.
Ensure all NCAA, ECC, and Institutional recruitment policies and procedures are adhered and complied.
Work with admissions and athletics to arrange on-campus visits for all prospective student athletes with their parents.
Attend athletic staff meetings as necessary.
Attend institutional sponsored events (open house, orientation, senior awards banquet, and alumni events, etc.); represent NYIT at the conference and national level through meetings and committee work.
Maintain fiduciary control of all allocated budget funds for all fund raising activities that supplement the team budget.
Supervise assistant coaching staff and volunteers.
Ensure all student -athletes are in “good-standing” with all NYIT, NCAA, and ECC rules and regulations.
Review rules with all student-athletes, monitor academic athletic progress; providing counseling when necessary.
Maintain accurate records of student-athlete’s performance and any disciplinary issues.
Assist in academic scheduling when necessary and inform student-athletes of department-sponsored functions.
Manage, maintain and safeguard all issued equipment and work with the Equipment and Facilities Manager to ensure compliance of issued equipment and develop a schedule for use of facilities.
Develop and implement community service events required of all student athletes.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Coaching at the collegiate level required.
Knowledge of coaching cheerleading at the collegiate level preferred.
