Water/Sewer Utility Modeler- Engineer III
Individual will perform project management for highly complex raw water supply and potable water distribution system engineering projects.
Job duties include:
Responsible for managing the water system master planning program
Perform hydraulic modeling and develop master plan reports
Coordinate water system capacity improvements with Operations and Maintenance staff, Regulatory Compliance, and Design & Construction engineers
Coordinate with various governmental agencies routinely on water resource and quality issues and needed improvements
Responsible for management of an Operations and Maintenance contract for the City’s raw water supply system
Manage a team of technical staff
Analyze impacts of new developments on water supply capacity and recommend improvements to the system
Development of the Capital Improvement Program budget.
The individual hired for this position will be required to work with limited supervision and continually apply independent decision-making skills.

MINIMUMS: Requires a Bachelors Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved engineering or engineering technology program with possession of a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA) and five (5) years of progressive professional experience, OR, an Associates Degree in Engineering with seven (7) years of progressive professional experience and a possession of a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA). SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Attachments Required: A copy of your Professional Engineer License is required.
Strong preference for candidates having experience with water system master planning and asset management, hydraulic modeling, water quality, aging infrastructure rehabilitation, renewal and replacement, design and construction, and contract administration. Strong emphasis is given to experience using various software in support of engineering, including proficiency in GIS and hydraulic modeling applications. Candidate must be an effective public communicator, have experience with technical committee management, and be able to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
This is an Alpha I position requiring the employee to work during inclement weather and emergency conditions, regardless of the City's operational status.
Valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver's License is required.
