Escrow Services is a business unit within the Treasury Services division of J.P. Morgan’s Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB). Escrow holds institutional client assets in safekeeping and delivers those assets once certain pre-agreed conditions have been fulfilled. Escrow is used to mitigate risk in institutional transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, bond issuances, and litigation settlements. This position, reporting to the New York based Middle Office Team Leader, is responsible for managing the large portfolio of Escrow client relationships.

About the role

New Business Activities

Understand the business purpose and deal structure for new business referrals
Review and negotiate governing documents with internal counsel as needed
Interact with client’s external counsel to negotiate escrow contracts in a proactive and professional manner ensuring that the risk profile of JPMorgan is protected while also ensuring that the needs of the client with respect to responsiveness and timely closing are met
Work with team members to ensure deal information is set up on all operating systems and contractual obligations denoted
Identify and aggressively follow up on all escrow and bank business opportunities
Ensure the potential risk and liability being assumed by JPMorgan under each agreement is within guidelines
Understand all duties to be performed by JPMorgan under each agreement
Relationship Management

Act as the primary point of contact for allocated clients
Manage the retention of client relationships
Provide and promote strong and proactive customer service by responding quickly to client requests, offering solutions to client needs, and developing meaningful client relationships
Escalate any issues promptly on identification
Look for opportunities to involve client in key business initiatives
Provide support to Sales on new business prospects as required

Bachelor Degree in Business/Finance
6-8 years work experience in financial services environment, preferably in Escrow
Client centric – interest in and ability to define compelling products that address customer needs
Highly motivated team player
Strong document review, negotiation and leadership skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience in providing independent decisions
Strong regulatory/ compliance skills
Excellent organizational skills
Strong experience with core Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
