Digital Food Editor, EatingWell.com
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
The Digital Food Editor plans and oversees food and cooking content for EatingWell.com social media, newsletters, organic referral and partners. This position will:
Lead the development of high-quality, differentiated digital food article and recipe content to drive growth through SEO, social, email and other developing outlets.
Develop and execute compelling editorial programs to drive audience growth and engagement and facilitate sponsorship opportunities.
Be a thought leader in the digital food space. Attend and/or present at industry events to increase brand and personal profile internally and externally and grow contacts network of freelance writers and editors and expand skills.
Lead development of digital food strategy to drive growth and serve the consumer, working with director of content strategy and senior digital editor.
Pitch and create daily food and cooking content for brand website & distribution channels
Develop, optimize, re-package, assign and edit digital first food content for site and video
Create new recipes and/or assign and test recipes from freelance recipe developers.
Coordinate photography of digital recipes.
Participate in digital video creation and promotion including but not limited to brainstorming topics, writing scripts, doing background research, appearing on-screen and on-site integration.
Collaborate with the video team to guide in the strategic development of recipe videos and premium series to help increase audience engagement, support sponsorships and achieve video goals.
Partner with social media, email and SEO leads to develop food content that will drive growth across channels
Collaborate with counterparts on the print editorial team to align on major brand initiatives, franchises and to support cross-platform sales opportunities.
Leverage available metrics and research to ensure that editorial plans align with consumer needs and trends.
Monitor competitor activities taking appropriate actions to maintain a leadership position.
Participate in other digital food projects as needed.
Represent digital food needs at editorial, production, tech, and newsletter meetings.
Participate in the RFP process as needed to pitch editorial concepts for sponsorship opportunities.
Work with director of content strategy and senior digital editor on promotion plans and sponsored programs.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Bachelor’s degree with journalism emphasis preferred. Culinary degree or professional cooking experience preferred.
3 years as a food editor or writer, with at least 3 years of digitally focused publishing experience. Recipe editing, testing and development experience required.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Photography and food styling skills a major plus.
Food blogging experience considered relevant.
Experience with keyword research, search-engine optimization and digital published desired.
On-screen video experience a plus.
Knowledge of, and demonstrated passion for, food content and digital media.
Experience using content management systems.
Understanding of online engagement.
Solid experience analyzing web metrics.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
