Blue Apron’s mission is to make incredible home cooking accessible to everyone. The Blue Apron Corporate Affairs team is responsible for shaping, elevating, and protecting the company’s public reputation with priority stakeholders that include media, industry influencers, investors, and customers.

We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, and experienced Senior Manager to lead Consumer Communications for Blue Apron. The Senior Manager will develop a communications strategy that builds awareness and understanding of our brand and product with aspiring home cooks in the U.S. In this position, you will work closely with all business functions to creatively and effectively reach and engage consumers with our brand through various channels and platforms. The Senior Manager will report to the Director of Communications.

We are looking for someone with a successful track record of designing and executing smart customer-centric communications strategies. To succeed in this role, you will need strong project management, writing and presentation skills, a creative and results-driven mindset, and the ability to be highly effective in managing projects across numerous business functions. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, growing organization. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Narrative development/refinement: Shape our consumer narrative to ensure it resonates well with our target audiences, evangelize it internally across teams and ensure that it remains consistent across all consumer touchpoints.
  • Storytelling: Identify creative ways to tell the Blue Apron story across a variety of channels including earned media, social media, events, partnerships, and original content development.
  • Media relations: Proactively develop, maintain, and strengthen media relationships with a diverse set of reporters, and supervise day-to-day handling of all consumer media.
  • Amplify key milestones: Craft communications strategies to support key brand and product milestones on our roadmap, including product launches, marketing campaigns, and media initiatives.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and alignment: Work collaboratively with business functions across the company to design and execute consumer strategy.
  • Social media: Partner with social media counterparts to ensure alignment of all consumer-facing messages, and build thoughtful campaigns to continue strengthening our highly engaged social media community.

NECESSARY INGREDIENTS:
**********************

  • 5-6 years of experience in public relations (agency or in-house)
  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance.
  • Excellent writing, presentation and communications skills.
  • Proven experience in creating and executing successful consumer-driven PR campaigns.
  • Strong existing media and influencer network, including relationships with a diverse set of reporters at top consumer publications and platforms (e.g. lifestyle, food/culinary, fashion, consumer tech).
  • Self-starter who can power through ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Comfortable project managing multiple projects simultaneously, and can be relied upon to ensure that projects are completed in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Naturally curious; you’re inspired by the road less traveled and finding creative solutions that others haven’t considered.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor junior team members.
