The Online Community Intern, located in Salt Lake City, helps to lead the community support efforts. This individual is tasked with leading and coordinating the efforts of volunteers/missionaries and other online group leaders assigned to the different community audiences throughout the world.
Our ideal candidate is one who is passionate about patrons’ success, online social engagement, and understands the value of relationship building in an online space. The Online Community Intern should:
Help to lead the community support efforts
Lead and coordinate the efforts of volunteers and senior missionaries and other online group leaders
Foster a positive online environment amongst the patrons and build lasting relationships
Emphasize needs, work hard to truly understand their experience and advocate for their voice inside FamilySearch
Work to foster growth with community members who show interest/ability to lead within the community
Work closely with the community support team and other stakeholders of the community
Proactively conducts audits and reviews of community ranks, roles, and permissions and other housecleaning activities
Develop and execute online and offline events and activities that help create a strong, connected dynamic between community members
Track metrics monthly; work with their manager to define trends and possible next steps to increase engagement
Support behind-the-scenes technical aspects of online communities
Understand and maintain the community related documentation and training materials such as help articles, trainings, policy/ procedure, etc.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field (Communications, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, Businessetc.)
Passion for positive user experience
Highly organized, detail oriented and excellent communication skills
Self-motivated and work effectivelyindependently as well as in a team environment
Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
Able to manage small teams of volunteers
A high level of energy and motivation
Strong sense of urgency
Familiarity or high interest in tech
Culturally sensitive and experienced in working in a global environment
Must be able to work in SLC
Experience launching community initiative (e.g. building an online forum, launching an ambassador program, creating an event series and writing an email newsletter) is a plus
Some computer science or coding experience is a plus
Language: Fluency in one or more of the following languages is a plus: Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Chinese, Korean
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
