The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Finance has a part time vacancy for Accounting Technician.
Audits and processes payables utilizing the NH First statewide financial system (NHF) to insure prompt and accurate payment for goods and services received by DHHS on behalf of the other divisions or agencies.
Enters all DHHS invoices and other documents into NHF for payment of services and goods received.
Audits invoices and corresponding documents to determine authenticity and accuracy of expenditures and advises on alternate or appropriate courses of action.
Prepares invoices and reimbursement requests to initiate payments for liable divisions.
Reviews all travel reimbursement requests for accuracy and compliance with the State of New Hampshire’s Administrative Rules and DHHS policies and advises on alternate or appropriate courses of action.
Reviews and ensures the accuracy of accounts, activity numbers and other NHF codes required to correctly charge expenses.
Applies established payment policies to ensure consistent interpretation and application of federal and state regulations.
Communicates with personnel assigned to other divisions, agencies, reporting units or outside vendors to obtain information, explain facts and interpret accounting issues.
Maintains filing records of DHHS invoices and other documents for payment of services and goods received.
Education: Associate's degree from a recognized college or technical institute with major study in accounting or business management, or completion of two years of college with a minimum of six semester hours in accounting. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: One year of experience in bookkeeping or accounting work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: None required.
