Performs technical planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and management of internet technologies.
Monitors the functionality, security, and integrity of internet services.
Resolves technical problems with the design and delivery of internet services.
Researches and evaluates new technologies for web - based application development. Identifies and evaluates new technology platforms and tools available to assess data more accurately and disseminate knowledge faster for elucidation of outbreaks. Maintains currency with new available technology through continued reading, education, and networking with others.
Designs a web - based application for de - identified patient demographics, bacterial drug sensitivity profiles, and bacterial genomic characterization. Works with ARSINE program management, investigators and Biostatistician to develop means by which the genomics/proteomics data can be more efficiently interpreted.
Leads the development of web - based software applications utilizing JAVA, .NET, HTML, XML, AJAX, and other web technologies.
Configures and maintains Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) application server software.
Implements robust, secure authentication and authorization systems for role - based access to the application and its data.
Integrates the web application with existing MRSN relational databases.
Provides training materials for users of the web application.
Reviews technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by staff. Independently researches alternative solutions to questions posed by staff. Provides technical insight and recommendations for enhancements in a proactive manner.
Provides all job - related progress reports/technical reports as requested.
Attends relevant seminars, scientific conferences, and meetings for the MRSN program.
Ensures that IT programs comply with Federal, DA and MEDCOM regulations and policies.
Collects and analyzes internet service usage and performance statistics. Proactively highlights potential areas of performance degradation and presents viable solutions. Identifies and reports on trends in data and application utilization.
Maintains a safe workplace ensuring that he/she is aware of and observes appropriate safety and occupational health rules and regulations. Employee is required to attend safety training relative to his/her position and report any infractions of safety procedures to the facility Safety Officer.
Performs light duties and other related duties as required and assigned.
Candidates for positions under ICON Government and Public Health Solutions contracts with the Department of Defense (DoD) may be required to pass one or more background/security investigations conducted by the DoD, U.S. Army, or other Federal Government agency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Laboratory/office environment; may require working evenings and weekends. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Work may involve long periods of standing and handling of numerous chemicals and/or hazardous biological material. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
