Full Job Description
Wittenberg University's Business Office is currently seeking a highly motivated accounting/finance professional to join our team. Reporting to the AVP of Finance & Administration/Controller, the Accounting Manager will plan, direct and oversee accounting operations while interpreting and implementing accounting rules and regulations specific to State, Federal and Institutional agencies. The Manager will serve on implementation teams for accounting and financial-related issues while also managing and specializing in general accounting functions and operations.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Plan, oversee and direct general accounting operations.
Provide guidance and participate in the decision-making process regarding policy and procedure maintenance for accounting operations.
Oversee banking and cash management including year-end closing processes, preparation of audit schedules, and daily/weekly/monthly/annual financial reporting.
Research, appraise, formulate and implement regulations regarding general accounting operations.
Participate in internal and external audits conducted at the University.
Develop and coordinate requests to improve efficiency and effectiveness of accounting systems.
Manage the endowment/investment operations.
Assist with completing annual reporting for IPEDS, FISAP and the Federal DOE.
Reconcile financial statements, including bank statements, trust accounts, deductions, and credit card/ACH transactions.
Hire and manage incumbents under the direction of general accounting operations.
Collaborate with the AVP regarding budgeting, cash management and other financial matters.
Performing other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects.

Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, or related field.
2-3 years of accounting or related experience.
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, use initiative, follow through, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Enthusiastic and positive attitude is necessary for a productive and efficient work environment.
