The Center for Innovative Technology is seeking a Program Assistant for our Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund (CRCF). This position facilitates daily operation of the program with emphasis on administrative support for the lifecycle of outreach, solicitation development, proposal review, and grants awarded under CRCF. CIT administers the fund on behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia. This part-time position reports to the Vice President of Research Investment and the Senior R&D Specialist based on a matrixed organizational structure.

  • Lead collection and recording of progress, final, and annual project reports and support other reporting requirements related to CRCF award activity. May also support preparation of the CRCF Annual Report.
  • Lead solicitation document processing, including the collection and recording of submissions, at the Letter of Intent and application phases. Also responsible for file maintenance.
  • Support proposal review process, including preparation of evaluation forms, collecting and recording evaluations, and supporting stipend administration and other interactions associated with external reviewers.
  • Support Research & Technology Investment Advisory Committee (RTIAC) and CIT Board interactions, including in solicitation development and proposal review and selection phases.
  • Support pre- and post-award communications, including general Q&A and correspondence with applicants and awardees, including debriefs.
  • Prepare monthly disbursement authorization materials for Finance & Administration.
  • Support community outreach, which includes individual correspondence, webinars, press releases, social media, and other announcements, along with events.
  • Assist in additional solicitation development and execution activities, including preparation of program guidelines and other materials, listserv management, and upkeep of online applications and/or other elements of the grants management system.
  • Provide confidential administrative support as required.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related business discipline preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience desired
  • Strong computer skills particularly in MS Office
  • Requires a self-starting, innovative thinker
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
