Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is seeking a Recreation Therapist to plan and implement activity services for assigned programs.
Effectively plans and implements activity therapy for assigned patient case load.
Monitor therapeutic space, supplies and equipment and ensures they are kept in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
Define and implement treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team .
Utilize advanced knowledge of counseling and therapeutic concepts and methods for determining therapeutic services for psychiatric and chemically dependent patients.
Demonstrate knowledge of group dynamics as well as therapy and practice of group processing.
Providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational, Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline; Masters Degree preferred.
Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
License: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.
Certifications: Successful completion of CPR and Handle With Care certification; certifications may be obtained during orientation.
