Under the direction of the Vice President, Performance Analytics and Improvement, the Vice President, Transformation and Integration Excellence is responsible for coordinating and driving the development and implementation of System-wide strategic initiatives that achieve tangible organizational results. The role is a key leader in organizational change management, skilled in change leadership, innovative problem solving and empowering high performing teams. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a systematic yet agile approaches to prioritization and coordination of significant System and Business unit initiatives including development and execution of System strategy, operational improvement priorities, benefit monitoring, and resource allocation. The Vice President supports development of project excellence acumen throughout the organization through the development and deployment of a core curriculum and through ensuring that all staff coach others in order to spread their expertise.

The Vice President collaborates with other functional or entity based project management offices and other corporate leaders including in the areas of Planning, Business Development, Finance, Quality, and Analytics as well as the Health Plan to ensure high performance and to promote the alignment of activities toward achievement of strategic results. The Vice President stays apprised of new approaches, innovations, and integration opportunities. The Vice President interacts with or leads teams throughout the organization and participates in initiatives and related teams to drive strategic results. The Vice President leads a team of internal consultants in support of strategy alignment and execution.

Strategic Consulting/ Initiative Execution

Drives strategic results for key initiatives though demonstrating key elements of managing a successful consulting and initiative execution including:

  • Project Management: In alignment with the Director, Performance Improvement, develops and implements a standard process for managing the project lifecycle utilizing traditional and innovative tools including agile
  • Problem Solving: Drives innovation, use of contemporary analytics and other qualitative problem solving strategies to analyze opportunities, develop solutions, implement changes and track results
  • Relationship Management: Manages complex relationships on an initiative basis as well as over time to build trust, resolve conflict and drive results
Strategy Alignment and Execution
Sets and cascades organizational goals through operating system by developing and deploying accountability mechanisms
Ensures appropriate initiatives are in place to meet the strategic needs of the organization in alignment with the strategic plan and the capital and the operational budget
Coordinates the System’s portfolio of projects (non-routine investment of time and money) and aligns initiatives / projects across the System
Coordinates System initiatives to ensure that we understand the status and impact of each one and align our efforts and that we are working on those that will have the biggest impact and spread best practices
Manages resourcing of efforts including internal and external consultant rationalization and other corporate resources. Leads or assigns resources for the planning and execution of project management initiatives including the identification and training of ad hoc resources. Draws and develops talent from across the organization and assign the right resources to maximize project outcome and minimize project cost
Organizes support for the leadership system/ teams to ensure focus on most important work
Develops project management and business acumen throughout the organization and best uses scarce resources across the System by pooling resources that are common and aligning them back through matrix relationships to the functional and business unit areas

Interacts regularly with System Senior Leaders as clients and principal decision makers for initiative prioritization and execution. Works collaboratively with administrators, managers, and physicians on projects within their areas

Serves as a change agent within HFHS, supporting both the identification and application of new project management concepts and driving the spread of best practices throughout the System

Serves as an affinity leader for Project Management staff across the System. Participates in routine discussions and learning activities with other PMO leaders across the System

Performs other related duties as assigned

Bachelors degree is required
Master's degree (M.A., M.S., M.B.A.) in Business, Engineering, Management, Healthcare Services Administration, Nursing, or other clinical field is preferred
A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in management consulting, planning, or operational experience is required
A minimum of five (5) years managing professionals is required
An emphasis in healthcare is preferred. Previous experience in major project management and strategic planning and deployment is preferred
