The Director of Communications will work closely with Artemis senior leadership to oversee a portfolio of communications, marketing, outreach and advertising projects for a variety of federal clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting federal clients; managing large- and small-scale communications projects; and mentoring other team members on industry-leading project management and communication best practices. This individual must have demonstrated experience communicating with both clients and team members; the ability to understand contract and task requirements quickly and thoroughly; and the capability to provide expert recommendations that have a direct impact on the program, contract, portfolio, deliverable or communication strategy. This individual must also become a trusted advisor, fostering relationships with clients to understand priorities and pain points that inform upcoming business development efforts for the portfolio.
The Director must be a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player. This position will require an individual who can handle multiple priorities and teams; manage contact financials; build and maintain client relationships; proactively identify and mitigate risks; and remain poised under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
The Director must be able and willing to be partially billable on a contract, as needed. The Director must also be able and willing to travel for client engagements, as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of projects, working closely with Artemis senior leadership and contract project managers to ensure successful client delivery, contractual compliance and contract growth.

Work with project managers to implement project tracking and reporting tools to improve project management and visibility of tasks across the portfolio.

Facilitate quarterly check-in meetings with clients to solicit feedback, document performance and identify focus areas for enhancement or improvement.

Facilitate weekly meetings with Artemis leadership to provide updates on contract status, risks (and mitigation solutions), financials and other key issues.

Ensure contracts are completed in accordance with contract requirements.

Raise risks and issues regarding contract status, budget and scope to Artemis leadership.

Serve as a communications subject matter expert for project teams, providing project quality assurance and deliverable reviews to help ensure conformance to defined project requirements.

Oversee development of communications engagement strategies and implement strategic marketing tactics in support of campaigns, programs and events.

Remain up to date on industry trends and innovative ways to deliver solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience.

Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach to marketing trends and technologies.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.

Ability to manage competing deadlines.

Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.

Comfortability with supporting complex client relationships.

Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
