Columbia Engineering is seeking a Marketing Director who will be responsible for facilitating marketing operations, representing the company to clients, peer organizations, and business associates at organizations, managing business development operations, and supervision and mentoring of marketing assistant. This role will also include production of proposals, managing presentation material, interview coaching, and market research. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and collaborative communication strategist excelling in business development strategy with a minimum of five (5) years of experience, in the Architecture / Engineering / Construction (A/E/C) industry, and a degree in marketing, journalism, communications or related field. Extensive experience with A/E/C business development, proposal development, and strategy is a must. Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically with InDesign and Photoshop is preferable. Proficiency in corporate social media strategy and website management preferable.
Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy and Operations
Develops, implements, and maintains firm marketing policies and procedures.
Develops marketing budget and reports to corporate leadership on marketing activities.
Develops background research on target markets and potential clients.
Works to continually improve firm brand.
Develops and maintains updated brand guidelines.
Directly manages and mentors Marketing Assistant.
Manages marketing images.
Coordinates with photographers,owners for permission and models.
Leads overall business development and proposal strategy and manages RFQ/RFP response efforts.
Coordinates business relationship development throughout company.
Supports Senior Leadership with development of creative ideas, concepts and unique graphic elements.
Manages support for all marketing efforts, including proposals, marketing correspondence and presentations.
Monitors websites and publications for release of RFQ/RFP’s.
Manages and updates leads and opportunities.
Manages and maintains input into marketing information systems (resume and project description files, CRM, etc.).
Public Relations + Communications
Manages and coordinates with PR firm, including article placement coordination and media responses.
Speaking opportunities research.
Creates promotional materials.
Plans and coordinates special events related to marketing and business development.
Organization Involvement + Events
Participates in external events/organizations as a representative of the firm and connects company to potential clients.
Manages efforts related to organizational activities, conference registrations and membership for technical staff.
Coordinates award submittals for industry awards.
Digital Marketing + Social Media + Website Management
Develops and executes digital marketing / social media plan.
Manages updates to company website.
Monitors Google Analytics, Squarespace and Hootsuite and other metrics for effectiveness.
At least five (5) years of prior A/E/C marketing experience is a requirement; experience in a design firm is especially a plus;
Bachelor’s degree in related field (Marketing, Journalism, Business, Communications) preferred;
Demonstrates understanding of marketing, business development, social media and public relations, and working knowledge of firm’s business, policies, procedures, programs, and capabilities;
Experience managing and developing direct reports;
Ability to dissect RFQs/RFPs, strategize responses and be a creative storyteller;
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects with fast-paced deadlines;
Have excellent clerical, writing and proofing skills; ensuring all assigned work is double-proofed and consistent before distributing;
Excellent eye for graphic design and aesthetic elements and ability to create graphics and presentations from scratch;
Demonstrates knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and business writing style;
Assumes complete responsibility for assigned tasks, including consistent follow-up;
Demonstrates strong problem-solving ability and sound judgement;
Resourceful and able to contribute and manage, both in concept and in implementation to marketing program effectiveness;
Excellent graphic and other software skills; with advanced proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop);
Experience with Google Analytics, Hootsuite and Squarespace preferred;
Experience in the A/E/C industry;
Experience with Deltek Vision is a plus.
