As an Information Governance and eDiscovery Consultant within Lighthouse's Consulting Services Organization, you will lead and work on client engagements involving Information Governance ("IG") (records and information management/"RIM" program development, process documentation/workflows, data remediation, defensible deletion, data mapping, data protection, etc.), and eDiscovery (eDiscovery operating model development, process documentation/workflows, program assessments, legal technology deployment/migrations, etc.). The ideal candidate will have experience conducting these types of engagements for multi-national organizations across a wide range of industries. This is primarily a client facing role, so the successful candidate will be comfortable and have experience working with senior stakeholders across legal, compliance, privacy and information technology staff.
What You Will Do:
Lead/manage high profile client engagements, applying deep subject matter expertise and critical analysis skills for a wide range of IG and eDiscovery engagements, including:
IG and eDiscovery program assessments (reviewing current state, identifying gaps, risks, and priorities);
IG and eDiscovery program development and implementation (implementing assessment recommendations or point solutions);
Lead work streams for engagement deliverables, such as:
Policy updates, refresh, harmonization (lead and/or participate in policy drafting);
Workflow documentation (lead and/or participate in creating workflow diagrams and operating procedures to support implementation objectives);
IG steering committee creation, launch, and/or reboot, including serving as chair on a temporary or long-term basis;
Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) strategy development
IG and eDiscovery technology information:
Office 365 native data governance, eDiscovery, information protection (formerly Azure Information Protection);
Legal hold notification workflow tools (Relativity Legal Hold, Legal Hold Pro, Exterro, etc.)
Lead client workshops on the impact of Office 365 on legal, compliance, data protection and recordkeeping requirements
Maintain strong data knowledge and fluency on the impact Office 365 adoption has on IG, eDiscovery, data privacy, compliance, and related areas;
Maintain broad and deep subject matter expertise in Office 365's native IG, eDiscovery, and data protection tools, including the ability to conduct demonstrations of the tools and answer difficult questions;
Manage requirements gathering and documentation efforts relating to Office 365 adoption;
Collaborate effectively with Lighthouse partner and sales teams;
Demonstrate thoughtful appreciation for and understanding of the Microsoft partner channel
Lead or participate in data remediation projects/programs (defensible deletion, "ROT" cleanup projects)
Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of information achieving technologies and platforms (e.g., Enterprise Vault, SourceOne, Mimecast, etc.)
Demonstrate and maintain knowledge and expertise with IG indexing and data classification technologies and platforms (e.g., Active Navigation, ControlPoint, Everteam, etc.)
Conduct domestic and international data privacy readiness and compliance assessments, including:
Data mapping, PII, Personal Data inventory and register development;
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and US state-specific privacy compliance;
Lead or participate in data protection projects/programs, including:
Data classification and handling policy creation, refresh, and/or reboot;
Data classification technology assessment, evaluation, recommendations, and implementation;
Expertise with Microsoft data protection tools such as Azure Information Protection (AIP) and Unified Labeling;
Evangelize Lighthouse's Global Advisory Consulting practice to the IG, legal, compliance, and related professional communities;
Demonstrate and maintain demonstrable fluency in and expertise with critical RIM program elements, including:
Records retention schedules (including difference between "big-bucket" and granular schedules)
Data placement strategies
Record vs. non-record designation
System of Record
ARMA IG Maturity Model
Familiarity and expertise with Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and Information Governance Model (IGRM)
What You Will Need:
10+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: electronic discovery, litigation support, business process consulting, records management/records and information management (RIM), content management, email archiving, IT system management, or business process integration.
Preferred experience working in information governance, eDiscovery and data protection/privacy.
Strong domain expertise with Microsoft collaboration and productivity technologies and platforms, including knowledge of and expertise in one of more areas of Office 365, such as:
Skype for Business/Teams
OneDrive for Business
Security & Compliance Center, especially features such as data governance, advanced data governance; eDiscovery and Advanced eDiscovery (Equivio); Azure Information Protection/Unified Labeling; data loss prevention
Previous experience working with organizations evaluating Microsoft (and other) enterprise technologies from a legal, compliance, and regulatory perspective.
Proven ability and appetite to continually learn and master new and evolving technologies, especially within the Microsoft technology stack.
Business, technical, and/or legal degrees/certifications highly desired, e.g. JD, MBA, CPA, Certified Records Manager (CRM), Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP). Similarly, data privacy certifications also desired, e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/EU, CIPT, CIPM.
Demonstrated project management skills.
