SEI Math Teacher for ELL Summer Program at CRLS
Description of Services:
The SEI Math teacher will teach English Learners in grades 9 - 12 in the ELL Summer Program at the
Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. The teacher will instruct students using the Summer Discovery
thematic curriculum, the WIDA Standards for ELLs, and Appropriate English language development
pedagogy and sheltered immersion methodology. The teacher will plan and teach lessons using the SIOP
Model of instruction and implement appropriate strategies for ELLs and/or students with special learning
Program Dates: June 29, 2020 - July 31. 2020 (Five weeks)
The SEI Math Teacher will work 6 hours/day x $35.00/hr x 5 weeks = $5,250.00
The SEI math teacher will be skilled in effective instructional strategies for teaching mathematics,
English language learning and Sheltered Immersion Methodology. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues, demonstrate high expectations for English language learners, be effective in working
with immigrant families, and create a learning environment that fosters mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.
Education: Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a concentration in
mathematics and teaching ELLs
Experience: At least 3 years experience teaching high school or middle school math and teaching linguistically
diverse students in an urban setting.
Languages: Proficiency in English and fluency in a languages other than English is preferred but not required.
Certification: MA Teacher Certification in secondary mathematics grades 9 - 12, (or grades 5 - 9) and teaching SEI
and/or English languages learners.
Start and End Dates:
$35.00 per hour not to exceed $5,250.00
