Bowers & Wilkins seeks a Manufacturing Test Development Engineer to be responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing test development process. S/he must gain and maintain a full understanding of B&W’s hardware designs and associated software in order to design testing fixtures operated by personnel located remotely. S/he will define and implement electronic and mechanical test frameworks and be fully responsible for the integration of software into these to produce a complete test environment. S/he must have the ability to plan and execute projects to completion on time at required performance level. She/he must produce clear, accurate and complete documentation for all aspects of test designs, both for operators and maintenance tasks.

The Manufacturing Test Development Engineer will work closely with team members at our factories and suppliers in China to ensure that the test fixtures and methodologies developed in the UK and in California are fully implemented and operated according to specification.

S/he will participate in product failure and warranty claims analysis, and contribute to efforts to modify and optimize test performance across the product line. S/he will develop and refine design process methodology with peers and managers, including all aspects of design, process, cost, FMEA reviews, etc.

Key Responsibilities

Develops test strategy and test plans for new products by partnering with HW, SW and Systems engineering
Performs sustaining activities for manufacturing test post-deployment to increase efficiency by working with factory team members for development and mentoring
Uses excellent documentation skills – understands necessity for creation of clear documents that are maintainable
Designs, develops, documents and maintains manufacturing test equipment, programs and procedures at factories and external suppliers in China
Works with and manages suppliers to develop test fixtures to ensure correct performance and quality per design requirements
Analyzes, troubleshoots and root causes manufacturing yield issues. Drives issues to closure with preventive measures
Provides on-site management of manufacturing partners to manage production line bring-up including fixtures and test stations
Skills And Experience Required

8+ years’ experience with high volume consumer electronics design validation and production line test methodology design and implementation
Hands-on experience in manufacturing tests: board-level electrical, RF, software integration, mechanical fixture design
Expert troubleshooting abilities in the areas of test SW, HW and fixtures - Proficient in analog and digital circuit debug. RF
Strong experience in programming and scripting e.g. Python, C++, LabVIEW, etc
Proficient in data analysis using tools such as Python, LabVIEW & Minitab
Good mechanical design aptitude and prototyping skills
Able and willing to travel overseas approx. 20% time, possibly more during critical periods
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Science preferred).
