About the Job

CO-OP, a growing nonprofit organization in Southeastern MA providing quality services to adults with developmental and other disabilities, is seeking dedicated, energetic and caring people to join our Direct Care Staff. CO-OP has 19 residential homes and 4 day programs. Our 24/7 supervised residential programs focus on a person-centered planning approach and working with individuals to create homes adapted to meet individual needs. We provide support in the areas of life skills, social skills, and community integration with an emphasis on pursing personal goals and interests.


  • Ensures health and safety of all individuals served
  • Provides guidance, support and direction as needed on new skills/tasks, behavior management, personal development, social skills, and communication
  • Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship with individuals
  • Follows clinical programs as outlined in individual’s service plan, recording data as required
  • Models and advocates for individuals’ rights and choices
  • Assists individuals in achieving goals by maintaining knowledge of their learning styles, strengths and support needs and ensures that skills are taught accordingly
  • Communicates effectively with peers and supervisors and, most importantly, with individuals associated with consumer services, all in a collaborative team-oriented way.
  • Administers and documents individual medications as prescribed by a physician in accordance with the Medication Administration Policy (MAP).
  • Understands and follows emergency procedures
  • Follows all procedures outlined for handling individual and/or petty cash funds
  • Attends mandatory trainings and staff meetings


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s license & good driving record required
  • Acceptable Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) & Fingerprinting required
  • MAP certification is required within six months of hire date


Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities preferred

  • Experience working with individuals with Acquired Brian Injuries preferred when applicable
  • Positive Behavior Supports experience preferred
  • Human Rights Advocacy participation preferred
  • First Aid Certification upon hire or thereafter
  • CPR Certification upon hire or thereafter
