This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other IT Specialist GS-2210-07 positions throughout NOAA. The position must be alike (e.g.: within the same geographic locations, same grade/band and requires the same qualifications and specialized experience as indicated in this vacancy announcement).
As an IT Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Perform operating system installation (by created image or manually), maintenance and support of Windows and Mac OSX operating systems.
Execute hardware maintenance of Windows and Mac OSX operating systems through contracts and warranty services and hardware maintenance of computer systems through troubleshooting and diagnosis. Support of peripheral computer hardware components, including printers, scanners and fax machines.
Maintain Windows Active Directory Domain Services, including domain additions, deletions, and modifications to users and computers.
Maintain documentation of standard operating procedures, including Microsoft and Mac OSX operating system imaging changes and procedures, computer setup procedures, standard Windows and Mac OSX setup configurations and maintain documentation for support calls, emails, and personal requests.
Determine detailed sequence of actions in program logic and code, test, debug, and document programs.
Occasional travel - 5% of domestic travel may be required.

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.

To qualify at the GS-07 level:
In addition to meeting the Required Competencies, applicant must have one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
- Assisting in installing and maintaining Windows and Mac OSX operating systems and software.
- Aiding with the troubleshooting, maintaining, and diagnosing of the hardware of Windows and Mac OSX-based computer systems and peripheral hardware such as printers and scanners.
- Aiding in the maintenance of Windows Active Directory Domain services (e.g., assigning accounts, building groups, granting permissions, etc.).
- Assisting with maintaining a physical network infrastructure by the addition and removal of network cabling both in the server room and individual user offices.
- Contributing to maintenance of documentation for standard operating procedures that includes Microsoft and Mac OSX operating system imaging changes and procedures, computer setup procedures, and standard Windows and Mac OSX setup configurations.
1 full year of graduate level education in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks OR superior academic achievement.
CTAP and ICTAP candidates will be eligible if it is determined that they have exceeded the minimum qualifications for the position by attaining at least a rating of Silver (Well Qualified). How You Will Be Evaluated
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
