Full Job Description
Wittenberg University is seeking applications for an Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer. The primary sport assignments for this position will be Cross Country, Field Hockey, and Track & Field, as well as other teams designated by the Head Athletic Trainer. This position serves as the primary medical care provider for injuries sustained to student-athletes in the Wittenberg University Athletic Department. This is a 10-month position paid over 12 months.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses to Wittenberg University student-athletes.
Consult with team physician on return to play decisions.
Maintain certifications and licenses as required by the State of Ohio and the National Athletic Training Association.
Completes some administrative duties to meet the needs of NCAA, North Coast Athletic Conference, and institutional policies around athletic participation.
Completes other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer to meet the medical needs of the student-athletes.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
A bachelor's degree and 1-3 years experience are required. A master's degree in athletic training or related field is preferred.
Be able to interact effectively and appropriately with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators.
Be Board Certified and Licensed in the State of Ohio (or eligible for such).
Be First Aid and CPR/AED certified.
Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Wittenberg University and Division III.
Comply with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
Be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
Experience with SportsWare software preferred.
A valid driver's license required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures.
Ability to travel and to work nights and weekends and travel with athletic teams is required.
