The Sterling Logistics Manager is responsible to manage all activities of our Sterling, VA distribution operation. Manages team’s inbound/outbound/import/export shipments, receiving, warehouse management and inventory accuracy. Reports to the Director of Logistics.
Provides supervision to Sterling logistics team
Staffs, trains and develops warehouse employees
Develops and promotes a culture of cooperation and teamwork
Manages inbound/outbound shipments to maximize service while controlling costs
Manages inventory accuracy, conducting physical inventory audits as required
Manages RMA processes coordinating with other departments and vendors
Ensures effective warehouse organization, cleanliness and safety
Serves as escalation contact for after-hours on-call events
Facilitates communication with logistics team, other departments and vendors
Maintains reports, analyzes data, and coordinates with Director to implement improvements
Conducts regular employee reviews and addresses performance concerns
Assist team members with their functional duties as required
BA/BS degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent
Minimum 5 years logistics management experience
Proven experience managing employees and processes for optimal performance
Strong organizational, analytical, time management and problem solving skills
High-energy individual with excellent interpersonal and team building skills
Motivated to drive projects to completion
Works effectively under pressure and managing multiple priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in MS office and distribution management software
Experienced working with shipping vendors i.e. UPS, FedEx and freight carriers
Excellent understanding of shipping regulations and import/export/customs requirements
Experience shipping telecommunication network equipment globally desirable
Position is located onsite at Cogent Communications' Sterling, VA distribution center.
