Director – Business Analytics & Data Science- Quality PI Patient Safety and Accreditation - Orlando
Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire a Director of Business Analytics & Data Science who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.
The system Quality and Performance Improvement departments are located on N. Orange Ave, adjacent to Florida Hospital Orlando and Children’s campus, with free on-site parking. Working closely with both System and Campus level leadership, the team uses performance improvement tools to advance and execute the strategy of Florida Hospital.
The Business Analytics & Data Science Director actively cultivates customer relationships with clinical and operational leaders such as Business Line Directors and FH Institute leadership to provide data and analyses that guide strategic decision-making. Primary partners are AHS Corporate Analytics, FH Research Institutes, and executive leaders from business support areas (Finance, People, Learning, Strategy). The team consists of the FH Analytics roles as well as other key members of the division, including Performance Improvement and Quality managers. Integrates analytics expertise with the data analysis needs of business support functions. Leverage data science assets to improve efficiency, timeliness and usability of analytic tools and insights. Directs the use of data assets in development of predictive models. Apply data science tools such as Data Governance and Agile Development to improve the speed and reliability of management decision making. Oversees, manages, coaches and develops managers who are responsible for complex qualitative and quantitative clinical, financial, and administrative data from multiple sources. Participates in business line meetings to assist in dissemination and interpretation of measures, reports and improvement initiatives. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
Thorough knowledge of information systems and their application to healthcare and ability to creatively use existing resources for problem resolution.
Knowledge of current issues in the healthcare environment, particularly regarding quality measurement, outcomes studies, healthcare finance, and patient safety.
Knowledge and application of statistical analyses, including financial variance analysis and statistical significance preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of staff and leadership as well as external stakeholders of the organization.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to focus detailed, concentrated effort on multiple projects and re-establish priorities as necessary.
Ability to effectively respond to time-sensitive issues and meet deadlines.
Initiative and ability to work independently (self-direction), while fostering collaboration and teamwork for maximal efficiency and effectiveness.
Attention to detail that ensures follow-through on all initiatives implemented and all projects undertaken.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor message to individuals and audiences throughout the institution.
Mastery of desktop applications, including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access) and database management applications.
Knowledge of data science tools such as Machine Learning and R.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Marketing or related discipline
Minimum of five (5) years of management experience
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with data science, research statistics, business analysis, or database systems

Determine needs and deploy self-service analytics tools for use by FH leaders.
Oversees statistical resources in support of FH research activities.
Direct the prioritization of data warehousing activities within AIT on behalf of FH.
Deploy and provide oversight of an effective Data Governance Program.
