The job’s main responsibility is to collaborate with biologists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians to design, validate, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and applications.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide bioinformatics support to R&D by analyzing and interpreting NGS data
Provide trouble shooting and maintenance supports for bioinformatics pipeline and applications for clinical tests
Lead the development of new methods/features/tools assisting clinical and genetic analysis
Coordinate with scientists and statisticians in validation of new methods, including data collection and analysis algorithms
Manage a team of bioinformatics scientists and programmers
PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline
MS degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline plus at least 5 years industrial experiences is required
Familiar with molecular biology, biological pathways, and genomics
Strong knowledge of current theories and principals of bioinformatics and computational biology
Proficiency in the use of bioinformatics software, packages, and database
Proficiency with Perl, Python, R, bash, C/C++, java, and SQL in Linux/Unix environment
Proficiency in utilizing and development biomolecular modeling and dynamics tools
Strong skills in the application of statistical analytical methods in genetic data analysis
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work within a team, among cross-departments, and as an independent contributor, requiring minimal supervision
At least 5 year research and development experiments in the related fields
At least 2 year post-doctoral research experience and/or industrial experiences in computational biology are required
At least 3 year management experience of scientists and/or programmers industrial setting
Experiences in using high performance computing and storage systems
Experience in Illumina sequencing data and bioinformatics Next Generation Sequencing pipelines
