POSITION DESCRIPTION: Utilizes the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) approved Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software to prepare Right of Way (ROW) maps, sketches, and exhibits in compliance with the approved Surveying and Mapping CADD standards and procedures for the Department.

Reviews plans, ROW maps, title search, legal descriptions and CADD produced files for geometric accuracy and compliance with the approved Department standards and procedures. Provides both written comments and marked up sheets as needed.

Develops and Implements solutions for mapping issues & conflicts while maintaining the integrity of CADD related file structure and essential Surveying and Mapping data. Coordinates with Department and consultant staff to complete transportation projects and/or task assignments while maintaining Department project schedules.

Provides solutions to complicated geometric problems associated with but not limited to the preparation of ROW maps, sketches, exhibits, title analysis, and parcel descriptions for the various departmental disciplines.

Assists in the inventory and upkeep of Surveying & Mapping information resources including Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and online web applications.

Assists other staff with Surveying and Mapping revisions and reviews.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and coordinate geometry; Knowledge of basic drafting principles and practice; Knowledge of mapping techniques; Knowledge of the United State (U.S.) Rectangular Survey System; Skill in planning and organizing work assignments; Skill in oral and written communication of technical data; Skill in computing coordinate geometry and the use of complex surveying mathematics; Skill in development of CADD generated maps and the use of basic drafting instruments and equipment; Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Site; Ability to read and understand Right of Way (ROW) maps; Ability to follow Department policies and procedures; Ability to work with and maintain data files using Windows file structure.

OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short timeframe and serve on the Transportation Emergency Management Team (TEMT).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year experience in a Survey and/or Mapping production environment.
