The Patient Services Representative is responsible for performing specialized and technical duties in support of Cougar Health Services. Duties include, but are not limited to: scheduling patient appointments, answering telephones, triaging patient calls to medical staff, registering patients, maintaining patient records, processing and preparing charge documents, submitting claims to various third party payers and state and federal agencies, obtaining prior authorizations and scheduling referral appointments, establishing eligibility, processing medical and pharmacy remittance advices, maintaining assigned insurance accounts receivables, evaluate patient financial status. Assisting the Medical Director with his/her administrative calendar, taking minutes at meetings and preparing reports and documents at the direction of the Medical Director; anticipating needs of the Medical Director and assisting with meeting and project organization; act as a primary contact for the Medical Director’s administrative contacts other duties as assigned.

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of general office experience or one year of office or customer service experience in a healthcare setting; OR equivalent education/experience.
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook and/or Access, including developing, creating and formatting documents.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
Demonstrated knowledge or experience using Electronic Health Records.
Documented on-the-job experience in a medical clinic.
Experience working with or demonstrated knowledge of the RCW (chapter 70.02) and the HIPAA of 1996, pertaining to the release of protected health information.
Documented training or experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
