Part-time Library Monitor, The Newark Public Library Applications are being accepted for Monitors to work at the Main Library on 5 Washington Street and in our branches throughout the City. Responsibilities of the job include: - Organizing and shelving books and magazines - Moving books - Staffing the public service desk - Answering questions about procedures and policies - Check in and check out of library materials - Verifying eligibility of library users and registering them for new cards - Collecting fees - Assisting with public programs at the Library - Assisting computer users - Operating office machines, such as copiers, fax machines, or microfilm readers - Assisting users to locate library materials - Other tasks as assigned Required traits and abilities Applicants should be customer oriented, friendly, helpful, eager to learn, and willing to work hard. A familiarity with computers is required. The ability to follow verbal and written instructions, directions, or plans is required. Salary $16.57/hour. 19-hour work week. Evenings and every Saturday are required.
