Performs tasks that require knowledge of payroll processes, company policies/procedures and regulations.
Inputs and maintains accurate information necessary for paycheck creation in assigned region/division.
Receives, reviews and inputs all employee information and payroll adjustments received from assigned business units.
Audits maintenance and verifies payroll deductions occur in a timely manner.
Inputs and audits direct deposit forms for priority and accuracy. Research direct deposit issues and make necessary adjustments.
Assists in preparing and auditing various reports.
Data entry of disability payments.
Upholds payroll procedures and company policy/procedure for payroll processing.
Reconciles payment of Credit Union, PAC, Union Dues and Wage Attachments.
Makes decisions regarding state withholding regulations based upon type of garnishment; establishes accurate priority of multiple garnishment payments; calculates appropriate weekly/biweekly deductions and adjusts deduction maximums as needed; determines payment due date and coordinates this with Accounts Payable.
Mails garnishment checks within 3 business days after the paycheck/deduction date.
Assists with timely mailing of paychecks/advices and reports to business units.
When necessary explains procedures to business unit personnel and points out all options, implications, and alternatives to be considered for employee payroll processing, generally provides education to business unit staff.
Responds to business unit calls from support center within 24 hours. Refers unusual and complex issues and questions to supervisor; follows-up with appropriate response.
Assists business units with policy exceptions, when necessary and appropriate.
Prepares stock options and hand checks.
Shares extensive knowledge of payroll procedures and company policies/procedures with less experienced staff as necessary.
Attends and participates in scheduled in-service programs and staff meetings. *
Audits all retroactive pay, bonuses, pay increases, Kronos reports and makes necessary adjustments.
Balances final payroll register with Kronos summary reports.
Required to maintain a respectful team working relationship with co-workers.
Required to participate in departmental overtime as directed by manager.
Required to remain compliant with HCR ManorCare’s policy and procedure.
Maintains confidentiality of necessary information.
Utilizes supplies and equipment properly and without waste. *

High School diploma with additional business course work required; Associate’s degree desirable
18 months to 3 years in business environment and at least six months prior work experience in employee benefits, insurance or payroll field; Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and payroll processing preferred; Extensive knowledge of personal computers including report generation and data entry experience required
Primarily light in nature with lifting 10 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as ledgers; Primarily involves sitting, reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Primarily inside in well-lighted, well-ventilated areas
