Role: Database Developer III

Location: St. Louis Park, MN

Length: Full-time permanent

Salary Range: Based on experience and qualifications

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 4+ years of development experience with SQL and stored procedures within an RDBMS
  • 4+ years of development experience with PHP
  • 4+ years of development experience with Linux / Unix shell and Windows
  • 2+ years of development experience with Microsoft's T-SQL (ad hoc, scripted and stored procedures)
  • Experience with scalability, slow query optimization, and data warehousing
  • Strong working knowledge of data transformation methods (ETL) using a scripting language without the help of SQL or high-level BI tools
  • Strong Bash scripting and Unix command line skills
  • Experience with version control systems
  • Familiarity with MS SQL Server Administration (DBA experience a big plus)
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple databases and environments
  • Intermediate understanding of code best practices
  • Proficiency writing development documentation for many audiences
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Capacity to analyze software specifications from business requirements
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Experience with Python and/or queueing systems such as RabbitMQ a plus

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist and occasionally lead in the intermediate level design, coding, and testing of technical solutions using SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, and multiple programming languages within the database environments
  • Create and maintain data downloads and processing using data transfer utilities, programming languages, and database environments
  • Demonstrate an understanding of standard systems development lifecycle processes, and apply these standards to the organization's software development methodology
  • Apply intermediate to advanced knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients
  • Identify system deficiencies and recommend solutions, taking a proactive approach to software development
  • Provide assistance in meeting development deadlines and schedules; often solely responsible for non-critical work
  • Recognize the necessity of and adhere to established coding standards
  • Clearly understand and articulate project and development plans, roles, project goals, and timelines
  • Work with project managers to interpret business requirements and offer technical solutions
  • Intermediate level planning, estimation, documentation, and status reporting
  • Review, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain the database environments
  • Mentor and train other developers


Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Computer Science or Management Information Systems preferred. Candidates with equivalent job-related experience in a position with similar responsibilities will also be considered.
