Summary - This Parkview Summer Internship position will provide the student an opportunity to engage in experiential learning in the Parkview Sports Medicine Department. This intern will work alongside degreed and credentialed strength and conditioning coaches with youth club athletes ages 8-19, high school athletes of all sports and those post-rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries to gain balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, speed and power. This intern will assist with team training including warm-up, strength training, plyometrics coaching, speed, agility and change of direction. The intern will also assist with team injury risk and performance training. Projects include weekly evidence-based article review summaries, weekly testing on skills learned, and designing a macrocycle program for an athlete of an assigned demographic and sport.
Program timeframe and requirements - The Parkview Summer Internship Program duration is from May 26, 2020 to July 31, 2020 Qualified students must be a junior or senior enrolled in an Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning, Health and Fitness, Kinesiology or other related program and available to work 30-40 hours a week during the program duration. Additionally, CSCS certified or intention to sit for exam upon graduation.
