Full Job Description

Leads the development and execution of a strategic plan to secure investments of $1,000,000 and above to support the mission and vision of FIU and advance the campaign priorities, institutional strategic plan. Working with University Advancement's senior leadership and in collaboration with university academic and administrative leadership, serves as the lead facilitator and manager of fundraising process. Works to effectively engage and respond to these individuals as partners, according to their interests and expertise, and alignment with the University's mission and strategic plan.

Strategize, implements, and evaluates the principal gifts program. Establishes and sets direction for comprehensive and strategic principal gift program, in support of the University's goals, Develops and reports on qualitative and quantitative performance metrics, including measurable targets for the fiscal year fiscal year (e.g., personal visits, stewardship activities, solicitations). Monitors progress towards achieving revenue goals and reports regularly to university Advancement and the university president.
Develops cultivation and solicitation strategies for a select group of the university's most generous donors. Works across and in collaboration with university academic and administrative leadership to identify, cultivate and engage donor prospects capable of making principal level gifts. Builds and manages network of relationships with prospective donors and facilitates communication with and among these prospect relationships. Promotes positive relations with these individuals.
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on fundraising strategy and execution for principal donors with the potential to engage with the University at $1M+. Manages a portfolio between 50 to 60 principal gift (multi-million) donor prospects that includes some of the most influential and highly valued University volunteers and donors. Provides leadership in attaining highly complex gift solicitations and negotiations, to secure major gift commitments. Evaluates various gift opportunities and giving vehicles and recommend most suitable for a particular donor.
Works closely with Sr. VP & CEO, Campaign Leadership, Chief Development Officer, and other internal stakeholders (Deans, Directors, faculty, etc.) in consultation around university priorities and needs. Formulates strategies to promote prospect engagement with the University and to identify potential high-level donors and facilitates action plans for implementation. Leads collaborative efforts to develop strategy for prospects shared by more than one college/school/unit. Fosters productive relationships daily between donors and University administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure effectiveness of programs.

Documents contact and prospect moves, tracks progress using Raiser's Edge, and adheres to University Advancement prospect management guidelines and protocol.
Drafts, designs, and prepares proposals needed for the solicitation of prospective donors. Collaborates with Editorial Services as appropriate. Drafts, designs, and prepares personalized materials needed for the recognition and stewardship of donors, including gift acknowledgment. Collaborates with Donor Relations and Stewardship as appropriate.
Participates in and adheres to university-wide prospect management guidelines for cultivation and stewardship of donors and prospects. Ensures the cooperative participation with Development staff in the University prospect management and tracking system, as well as with university alumni relations. Attends all development meetings as required. Meets the annual goal for personal contacts as established by the University Advancement leadership ad the university president. Documents contact and prospect moves, tracks progress using Raiser's Edge, and adheres to University Advancement prospect management guidelines and protocol. Meets agreed- upon annual fundraising goals.
Develops and implements a strategically planned travel schedule to meet with prospects and donors, aligned with strategies and outcomes. Travels nationally and internationally to meet with prospects. Attends meetings, gatherings, or University sponsored events. Represents the University and/or the college at public functions as needed. Attends all development meetings as required.
Prepares and manages annual budget in alignment with, and in support of, strategic planning, programmatic activities, goal planning and evaluation, special projects, and initiatives. Represents the University and/or the college at public functions as needed. Attends all development meetings as required.

Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and twelve (12) years of experience with seven (7) years of experience in fundraising.
Strong working knowledge of industry best practices relevant to the successful cultivation and solicitation of high-level prospects and benefactors for leadership and principal gifts.
