Poms & Associates

POSITION

The Accounting Specialist role consists of accounting and administrative duties as well as analyst responsibilities. This position is responsible for assisting with finance, accounting, projects, and administrative work. The variety of challenges and opportunities could be ideal for the right candidate with an interest in expanding their technical knowledge of accounting and finance skills.

As part of the Corporate Team, the Accounting Specialist will work closely with a group of self-starters who were able to advance in their current roles from a similar foundation. This position fosters the development of professional skills and provides valuable corporate experience while working from the Operations Center in Logan.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the company’s purchasing and vendor payment processes including establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors.
Ensuring all corporate expenditures are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
Oversee the company’s corporate credit card program.
Assist with annual 401k audit and various payroll reporting/analysis tasks.
Complete annual 1099 documentation for necessary vendors and assist with annual finance audit procedures.
Assist management with employee expense report processing.
Assist with daily operations of carrier accounting including recording bank deposits, reviewing accounts receivable reports, and processing payments to carriers and clients.
Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations as part of the monthly close cycle under an accrual accounting system.
Demonstrate an understanding of the core values of the company. Understand the guidelines for the way business is conducted through its transactions.
Assure projects satisfy the stated and implied needs of the customer, internal and external. Meet quality and deadline expectations.
Travel to Calabasas, CA twice a year for training.
Serve as backup for team members, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

An undergraduate degree in Business/Economics.
A minimum of 2 years of related experience is required.
Experience in performing analytical, economic research or similar projects is preferred.
Demonstrated ability in setting and achieving goals.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to convey information clearly and concisely.
Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy. Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to focus on and perform detailed work.
Ability to synthesize distinct data/information sets to provide insights.
Ability to learn new skills.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced level in Excel.
Knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting software.
