Full Job Description

Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate required.
At least 8 years of relevant corporate and/or government compliance experience.
Demonstrated experience researching, issue-spotting, and operationalizing contractual, statutory, or regulatory requirements.
An ability and desire to travel is required.

Work hard, have fun, and make history with Amazon Public Policy. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, Public Policy, the Compliance Manager will help lead our US state and local public policy compliance efforts. The Compliance Manager will create, execute, and manage compliance programs and initiatives. You will work collaboratively with public policy team members and with legal counsel to ensure compliance with state and local regulations for our political engagement and lobbying activities. You will develop tools and procedures for collecting, filing, and reporting data on an ongoing basis. Finally, you will assess existing and emerging political engagement and lobbying issues and advise public policy team members on risks and best practices.

The position is based in Arlington, VA.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
Experience handling federal government compliance issues.
Demonstrated success in analyzing and maintaining contract records, as well as identifying and driving opportunities for automation and process improvement in contracting operations.
Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at all corporate and political levels.
Experience creating factual, relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging, and you can persuasively deliver it to relevant audiences.
Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
Proven self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results.
Experience thinking critically, processing data from multiple sources, forecasting potential scenarios, prioritizing based on probability and desired outcome, and recommending a best course of action.
Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment / decision-making skills. You can intelligently build a course of action, analyze risk trade-offs, and make recommendations even in ambiguous situations.
