Full Job Description

Overview:

We are Thompson Excavation - one of the fastest-growing, employee-owned excavation companies in the Midwest and right now, we're on the hunt for an experienced Estimator to help us reach new heights! Job Description:

As a Thompson Estimator, your primary job will be to calculate the total cost required to complete our earthmoving & dirt work projects designed for mainline utility installation, deep foundation digging & more!

Typical duties include:

Coordinating with Project Leaders to review cost projections and budgets
Reviewing specifications, blueprints, site surveys, and geotechnical reports
Calculating the cost of labor, equipment, material, operator time & hauling fees
Using construction management software tools to calculate takeoffs
Negotiating bids and proposals from GCs, developers, and property owners
Completing front-end reports, addendums, pay schedules, and plans sheets
Conducting site evaluations to identify logistical challenges & accessibility issues
Identifying site safety hazards and other site conditions that may impact costs
Conducting post-project evaluations to identify “lessons learned” for the future

Requirements:

3+ years of Estimator experience in excavation/dirt work (or relevant degree)
Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, etc.)
Experience interfacing with various types of construction management software tools, such as ProContractor, ProCore, and Trimble
OSHA 10 & 30 Certification (Thompson will train, if necessary)

Starting Salary: $80K to $130K (depending on experience, qualifications & education)

Shift Details:1st Shift (work hours are flexible, so long as you're doing your job)
