Full Job Description

$25 - $30 / hour

The Staff Accountable is responsible to assist the Accounting department in creating timely and accurate financial statements by preparing account reconciliations and journal entries, processing cash applications, completing other financial projects and reports.

Primary job functions typically require detailed accuracy and exercising independent judgment in this individual contributor role. This position is also responsible for reporting and escalating any issues about the job to the Assistant Controller.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounting Duties:

Assist in the monthly financial close activities including preparing month-end journal entries

Process and post cash receipts and bank transactions for all Corovan companies daily, including following up on remittance details as considered necessary.

3. Cross train as back up for other accounting staff.

Ensure the accuracy of selected balance sheet accounts for multiple companies by preparing supporting schedules detailing what is in the accounts and agreeing them to sub-ledgers each month.

Prepare year-end schedules for audit and provide documentation for auditors for assigned areas of responsibility.

Reconcile selected bank accounts for multiple companies in accordance with the financial close calendar.

Assist with calculation and recording of requested labor allocations in the general ledger.

Participate in process improvement projects as required.

Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, suppliers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Complete discretion is required, as this position will have access to financial statements, payroll, and other confidential information.

Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

Special/other projects as assigned by management.

Customer Relations:

1. Interact with internal and external customers in person and via telephone, fax, and email to ensure complete customer satisfaction in all matters related to the operation.

2. Attend and participate in meetings.

3. Maintain excellent customer service with the internal and external customers including transportation and operation teams to establish solid relationships.

Training:

1. Participate in Six Sigma projects, as required to improve processes and efficiencies.

2. Promote Corovan’s Mission and Vision Statements.

3. Continuously promotes compliance with company policies and procedures.

Safety:

1. Ensure the highest standards of safety are maintained on a daily basis.

Other Duties:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:

BA/BS degree in Accounting is required; or a combination of education and equivalent experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s degree.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including MS Excel.

Valid CA driver’s license that meets our insurance carrier’s requirements.

Preferred:

Minimum 1 year related experience in an accounting environment.

Service industry experience highly desirable.
