Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Implement manufacturing methods and processes to improve efficiency during the product development phase and the transition into the production phase. Assist in maximizing product process efficiency by analyzing the layout of equipment, workflow and manufacturing methods and processes.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assure and verify compliance of manufacturing methods and processes with approved methods and processes, and quality requirements and standards as defined on drawings, customer specifications and customer contracts and purchase order requirements as directed by the assigned Project Engineer.
Proficient in Excel and SolidWorks, with a strong understanding of manufacturing floor operations. Experienced in improving production flow, assisting with punch nesting, and supporting brake press programming.
Review and approve calibration results for tools and gauges used to manufacture all parts for assigned manufacturing processes.
Oversee the incorporation and maintenance of customer issued drawings and all other process changes, which may include Engineering Change Notices, into the systems and assigned processes.
Responsible for the oversight and sign-off of product repairs, reworks and Nonconforming Material Report disposition and root cause validation.
Work with Quality to perform the disposition of pre-SCAR and SCAR non-conformances and take appropriate actions to support all respective vendors, to include site visits as required.
Oversee the collection and submittal of key characteristic data, along with required preparation efforts for recurring product audits for assigned manufacturing processes.
Interact with other related disciplines within the facility to develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods.
Participate in Product Failure Mode Effects Analysis meetings and provide assistance as required by the assigned process owners.
Monitor First Time Yield data and report data trends.
Perform process validations on assigned processes through a hands-on review by witnessing the performance of operations and discussions with all involved shop personnel, manufacturing personnel and other engineering personnel.
Extract, organize and draft information pertaining to first article submittals as necessary to support Quality and Engineering.
Monitor and verify tasks for assigned manufacturing processes are completed according to published milestone plans.
Follow up to ensure CNC and CMM program approvals are completed, as applicable, for all assigned manufacturing processes.
Recommend safety and ergonomic improvements in our material handling devices, manufacturing tools and workstations to accommodate best practices for shop floor personnel.
Responsible to support NPI process for assigned manufacturing processes.
Perform all assigned Workstation Audits in accordance with the published schedules.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related technical field; with three to five years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three to five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferably related to sheet metal and machining.
Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems is essential.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite is required.

CRITICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of Solidworks and/or CAD/CAM systems.
Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Able to work with various departments and interact with diverse personalities.
