We are currently seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Akron, PA.
The Infrastructure Engineer handles the design, development and optimization of Rosenberger North America’s network infrastructure. In addition to advanced technical responsibilities, this role provides tier 3 support, guidance to the Infrastructure Team and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure a highly available, secure, and scalable IT environment.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Provide technical mentorship to the Infrastructure Team, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company objectives.
- Spearhead strategic planning efforts for scaling, managing and optimizing Rosenberger North America’s network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to define long-term infrastructure goals and align them with business needs.
- Act as a liaison between the Infrastructure Team and external service providers, where necessary.
- Oversee high-level architecture and design of network infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and resilience.
- Provide expertise in firewall, VPN, switch, Wi-Fi, and inter-site communications configuration and management.
- Establish/Maintain best practices for performance monitoring, and security hardening across all infrastructure components, ensuring alarms for outages are in place for addressing in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with NIST guidelines, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Cybersecurity Framework.
- Liaise with the Head of IT on efforts to enhance network security, data protection, and incident response strategies.
- Implement security measures across endpoint, cloud, network, and storage protection areas.
- Liaise with the Head of IT and the Business Intelligence team on business continuity initiatives, ensuring rapid response and remediation.
- Evaluate network and system performance to proactively address inefficiencies.
- Assist with improvements to disaster recovery plans in collaboration with service providers and network carriers.
- Contribute to the management of infrastructure engineering projects, providing updates on deadlines and cost effectiveness, where necessary.
- Optimize network usage and performance, making recommendations for infrastructure enhancements.
- Lead infrastructure documentation efforts, ensuring clear processes, guidelines and technical documentation are in place for training and audit purposes.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to network infrastructure.
- Serve as a technical, engineering subject matter expert for a complex global network.
- Reviews the IaaS performance metrics and reports provided by the Managed Service Providers. Identify issues and recommend remediation plans
- Works with the managed service providers to establish overall inventory of hardware and software in the IaaS environment, ensuring that inventory is current.
- Identify/diagnose network configuration and/or performance irregularities. Develop procedures to respond to these irregularities in a timely manner.
- Liaise with Head of IT to establish Data Loss Prevention functional requirements and ensure that use cases are in alignment with the organization’s security architecture.
- Provide a yearly assessment of the severity of weaknesses or deficiencies discovered with the network and recommend corrective actions to address those identified vulnerabilities.
- Provide advice on the risk and impact levels for Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of information on a given system.
- Must be able to prepare the Security Assessment Report (SAR) containing the results and findings from the assessment.
- Collaborate with IT staff and others as required to resolve infrastructure operation disruptions impacting users.
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance in line with the departmental work from home policy.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven success with communicating assessment results and progress to internal and external stakeholders
- Current CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco equivalent certification required.
- Security+ certification preferred.
- Knowledge of CMMC regulations, NIST guidelines, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Expert knowledge and experience with VMware 6.5, Citrix, XenApp and XenDesktop Version 7.15.
- Cisco Network and Routing Experience is required.
- 2 years of experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems & Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Networking and Cisco Router and Switches, Meraki, Cyber Security, NetApp Storage, VPN, Exchange Server, Active Directory, VOIP telephony systems.
- NetApp SAN Experience is a plus
- Proven Troubleshooting abilities for software and hardware issues.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
- Excellent customer service delivery skills.
- Requires minimal direct supervision.
