The Washington Athletic Club (WAC) is a members-only Health and Fitness Club featuring extensive amenities for our members, including fitness centers, a stunning pool, three restaurants, a boutique hotel, a spa, banquet halls, and more. Built in 1930, our beautifully maintained twenty-one-story building is a unique national historic landmark located in downtown Seattle. It is truly a city within a city!

Job Description:

The Restaurant Supervisor will serve an important role in achieving our WAC Values daily and to satisfy our mission “to enrich the quality of life of our members.” They will support and work as a partner to restaurant servers, by constantly monitoring, guiding, and controlling the flow of guests into the dining room, based on timing and level business, so that they are seated in a manner that complements each server’s ability to properly attend to them.

The Restaurant Supervisor will ensure that the restaurant is set up and ready for service, including checking the dining area’s cleanliness, confirming the availability of necessary supplies, and ensuring that the team is prepared for the day. They will assist customers in answering questions and inquiries and in planning special events such as private dining, parties, and banquets.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervise and manage the restaurant staff, including servers, hosts/hostesses, and bussers.

- Ensure that the staff adheres to the club's standards of service, including grooming, conduct, and professionalism.

- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring that members' and guests' dining experiences meet or exceed their expectations.

- Handle and resolve any complaints or issues that arise during service promptly and professionally.

- Monitor the restaurant floor to ensure that all operations are running smoothly and efficiently.

- Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure that food service is prompt and accurate.

- Provide training and guidance to new and existing staff members to maintain a high standard of service.

- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to the staff for their professional development.

- Oversee inventory levels and ensure that the restaurant has an adequate supply of necessary items.

- Collaborate with the management to place orders and maintain appropriate stock levels.

- Ensure that the restaurant area is clean and complies with health and safety regulations.

- Enforce proper food handling and sanitation practices among the staff.

- Assist in planning and executing special events and functions held at the club, ensuring that all aspects of the event are well-coordinated and executed seamlessly.

Special requirements:

- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in the food and beverage industry, preferably within a high-end or private club environment.

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a diverse team.

- Excellent communication skills to interact with club members, guests, and team members.

- Proficiency in managing operations and resolving issues efficiently.

- Sound knowledge of food and beverage operations, including menu items, wine selections, and service standards.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly.

- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and food handling practices.

- Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the club's operating hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

21 years old or older.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Previous experience in a full-service food service environment.
Ability to understand written and oral direction and to communicate same with others.
Ability to promote and participate in a team environment.
Ability to work independently and in a high stress, fast paced environment.
Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires flexibility in scheduling and may require working holidays, evenings, and weekends.
Must possess a food handler’s permit issued by the State of Washington.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise
Must be able to lift 50 pounds in weight
Must be able to work holidays and weekends
