Full Job Description

St. Nicks Alliance, a not-for-profit organization, seeks to transform the lives of North Brooklyn residents through education, employment housing and healthcare, delivering impactful services to children, teens and adults. As a civic anchor, we carry out this mission within the context of building a sustainable community for all. Established in 1994, St Nicks Alliance’s Youth and Education department strives to transform the lives of more than 6,000 North Brooklyn youth, ages 2-24, each year. Through a wide-range of programs, youth are empowered to successfully advance through the stages of education and into young adulthood with the core competencies to thrive, both emotionally and financially. In partnership with schools, families and community, St. Nicks Alliance’s holistic approach to transformation combines youth development, academic enrichment, health and wellness, arts learning and post-secondary readiness.

Program Overview: St. Nicks Alliance Youth Employment operates one of New York City’s largest Summer Youth Employment Programs and a Work Learn Grow throughout the school year, which together serve nearly 3,000 youth per year. The purpose of Youth Employment is to provide New York City youth with summer employment and educational experiences throughout the year that build on their individual strengths and incorporate youth development principles. These principles include engaging the talents and interests of youth, developing their skills and competencies, and providing positive adult role models.

The goals and objectives of Youth Employment are:

● To assist youth in identifying their career interests through exposure to different industries, occupations, educational pathways, and the requirements for success in each of them

● To enable youth to acquire positive work habits and develop employment‐related skills

● To facilitate the long‐term employment and self‐sufficiency of youth

● To leverage youth to develop a greater understanding of higher education and career options available to them

● To enable youth to develop financial literacy and other competencies that will prepare them to succeed in their transition to adulthood

Reporting to the Director of Youth Development, the Assistant Director of Job Development is a leadership role who supports the overall goals listed above as well as oversees the day-to-day operations of worksite and job development pipelines and supervision of the worksite monitor team.

Primary Responsibilities are:

● Interview, hire and supervise SYEP/WLG worksite monitors

Train and develop worksite monitoring staff with workforce and professional skills.

Employer Partners/Worksite Management

● Develop and cultivate a diverse portfolio of worksites on all sectors, private, nonprofit and public sectors with a focus on NYC’s leading industries.

● Create compliance systems for worksite portfolios that sustain: site visits, compliance checks, monitoring evaluations, file maintenance and audits.

● Develop reports for diagnostics and forecasts on sector focused internship placement.

● Develop long-term, collaborative and strategic relationships with business organizations, individuals, community organizations, and economic development agencies.

● Maintain strong peer network and conducts periodic benchmarking on prospect identification practices at similarly-sized and focused Development shops

Workforce Readiness and Intern Placement

● Develop a job matching system for interns and employers.

● Collaborate with the Leadership team on the development of skills training for unemployed/underemployed youth in the diverse population of NYCHA, Opportunity Youth, School Based and Community based.

● Oversees & ensures that day-to-day operations are appropriately managed, efficient and effective, especially prospect management Support day to day operations and integrated approach to workforce development, professional development, community education,

community partnerships and business relationships Communicate and collaborate with the Youth Employment Leadership team for programmatic management strategies.

● Attend all staff and provider meetings as needed

● Identify professional development opportunities and monitor list-serves and publications to further develop professional skills and knowledge

● Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

● BA in Education and two years experience developing specific industry focused jobs for internship placement.

● Proven successful record of coordinating worksite compliance strategies with workforce outcomes.

● Workforce Industry Outreach knowledge

● Experienced and Knowledgeable in SYEP/WLG, DOL, ADA, EO laws/guidelines.

● Must be compliance driven and have strong negotiation skills.

● Ability to serve as a strong role model, provide guidance to young workers, and mediate conflict.

● Strong organizational, public speaking and interpersonal skills.

● Experienced in Excel formulas and tables, Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Video Conferencing.

● Bilingual plus, Spanish speaking preferred.

Pay: $57,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
