JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Position Type: Exempt, Full-time

Salary: Base of $70,000. The salary is negotiable depending on the candidate's work experience and performance.

Signing Bonus: $5,000 - $500 at hire, $500 at 90 days, $4,000 on Anniversary.

Position Summary

The Clinical Social Worker will provide comprehensive counseling services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health and behavioral health issues. They will work with individuals, families, and/or groups to improve mental health and well-being. Routine services will include psychosocial assessments (including substance use screening and intervention), crisis intervention, safety and risk assessments (suicidality), treatment planning, coordination of care, discharge planning, brief solution focus therapies, and individual/group/family therapy sessions. Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team including internal medicine/infectious disease specialty care prescribers, nurses, psychologists, case managers, peer recovery/outreach specialists, and non-clinical associates. Will deliver services in accordance with accrediting entities and local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing the practice.  Depending on licensure, the Social Worker may provide clinical supervisory duties to students and interns.  

The Clinical Social Worker will work with diverse populations (race/ethnicity, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, infectious disease/chronic diseases status) with multifaceted needs. The Clinical Social Worker will create the plan and coordinate the delivery of excellent mental health and behavioral health patient care in an Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases practice. This position will provide direct patient care and health education, obtaining insurance authorization for individual and group therapy, documenting clinical data, and establishing and tracking attainment of key care plan deliverables.

Education and Experience: 

LICSW, LSW, LGSW, or LPC from an accredited institution with license to practice independently in District of Columbia. 
Minimum 1-2 years’ experience providing mental health assessment, crisis intervention, therapeutic services to a diverse population in a community health setting.  
Fluent in both English and Spanish, with the ability to conduct assessments and write reports in both languages. (Preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Diagnosis:

Conduct assessments and evaluations using standardized tests, instruments, interviews, and observations.
Diagnose mental health conditions based on the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders criteria.

Treatment and Intervention:

Provide individual and group sessions.
Support patients with their issues, concerns, and expectation to reach their goals.
Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual client needs.
Get care plans approved by insurance payor, if applicable.
Provide evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other therapeutic approaches.
Offer crisis intervention and management.

Consultation and Collaboration:

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and primary care/infectious diseases specialty physicians to coordinate care.
Works with the WHI Medical Director to lead a consistent forum to discuss and document the care of high risk/complex patients.

Research and Education:

Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and research in the field of social work to enhance clinical knowledge and provide Evidence-Based care.
Actively participate in professional development activities and engage in ongoing learning opportunities to continually improve clinical skills.
Educate clients, families, and the community about mental health issues and coping strategies.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and documentation of all assessments, evaluations, and treatments.
Prepare reports and documentation as required by legal and ethical standards.

Supervision and Training:

Supervise and mentor social work interns, students, and junior staff.
Provide training and workshops on mental health topics.

Problem Solving:

Independently and effectively problem solves both patient and resource issues.
Proactively identifies clinical support issues that undermine patient flow and/or other center issues.

Employee Characteristics/Skills:

Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, ability to positively influence others with respect and compassion. Bilingual Spanish, a plus. 
Must possess the ability to make independent practice decisions when circumstances warrant such action. 
Must be able to relate information concerning a patient’s situation to the supervisor, when warranted.  
Strong work ethic built on a foundation of proactivity and teamwork. 
Ability to apply structured problem-solving techniques to problems/challenges.
Committed to the practice of inquiry and listening. 
Computer proficiency in electronic health records (eClinical Works, preferred). 
Comfortable serving all individuals, including racial/ethnic minorities and LGBTQIA individuals.
Arrive at work at 7:45 AM and share office space with another co-worker.
Receive all recommended vaccines in a health care setting, including Hepatitis B, flu, and COVID-19. This is non-negotiable.
Commit to a minimum of one year of service at WHI. We provide opportunities for professional development.
Role requires in-person work only. This is not a remote work position.
Available to start work in two weeks or sooner.
